The Royal Sands Koh Rong is proud to share the ongoing success of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, a long-term commitment focused on improving the lives of local communities, supporting education, and protecting the natural environment of Koh Rong.

At the heart of the initiative is the successful completion of the Sok San Primary School Water Project, a community-led effort that has provided students and teachers with reliable access to clean, filtered drinking water. Following an initial assessment conducted by the resort's management and engineering team, a critical need for potable water was identified at the school. Through the generosity of resort guests and supporters, funds were raised to design, install, and commission a comprehensive water filtration and refilling system.
Officially handed over in August 2025, the project now provides safe drinking water for hundreds of students while significantly reducing the reliance on single-use plastic bottles. The initiative represents a meaningful investment in both public health and environmental conservation.
"Our vision extends beyond providing exceptional hospitality," said Mario Piazza, General Manager of The Royal Sands Koh Rong. "We believe that responsible tourism should create positive and lasting benefits for the communities and environments in which we operate. The Sok San School Water Project is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when guests, local communities, and businesses work together toward a common goal."

The project has also received support from members of Cambodia's wider community, including supporters of Cambodian music icon Vannda, demonstrating how collaboration and collective action can help drive meaningful change for future generations.
Building on the success of the water project, The Royal Sands Koh Rong has launched its next fundraising initiative to improve classroom conditions at Sok San Primary School through the installation of ceiling fans. Future plans also include the development of a dedicated playground, creating safe spaces where children can learn, play, and thrive.
Beyond community development, sustainability remains a core pillar of the resort's operations.

The Royal Sands Koh Rong continues to implement comprehensive environmental programmes across all departments, including:
Waste segregation and recycling initiatives throughout the resort
• Composting programmes that convert organic waste into natural fertiliser
• Water conservation measures and wastewater treatment systems
• Sustainable procurement and waste reduction practices
• Staff training and environmental awareness programmes
• Ongoing efforts to reduce single-use plastics and minimise environmental impact
As a Travelife Gold Certified resort, The Royal Sands Koh Rong remains committed to responsible tourism practices that support local communities while preserving the island's unique natural beauty for future generations.
Guests wishing to contribute to future community projects can do so through the resort's "Giving Back" initiative, with all donations directed towards approved local infrastructure and educational development projects.
