The Met Hotel Leeds Unveils Grand Transformation Plans

The Met Hotel Leeds, a much-loved landmark in the heart of the city, is entering an exciting new chapter as it announces major refurbishment plans. The hotel has stood as a symbol of elegance in the heart of Leeds since 1899, and now, through this transformation, it will be reimagined for today with a refined yet expressive attitude, making it a contemporary lifestyle destination.

Set to complete in November this year, the restoration plans centre around preserving the building's historic features, while introducing thoughtfully curated interiors, dynamic social spaces, and an elevated hospitality offering. As part of the wider project, the hotel's Restaurant & Bar will also be refreshed in line with the hotel's new aesthetic, continuing to offer a relaxed, casual dining experience for guests, complementing the hotel's broader lifestyle focus.

In addition, the hotel's meeting and events spaces will be optimised to better serve its target demographic. The refurbishment includes significant upgrades to position The Met as a leading venue for business meetings, banqueting, and corporate award dinners, further cementing its status as a go-to destination for both business and leisure in Leeds. Central to these enhancements is the vision of becoming the most exciting, independent hotel in the North and the number one in Leeds, showcasing prestige and personality.

Opening in the late 1800s, the 125-bedroom hotel has welcomed guests for over a century. Designed by local architects, it is renowned for its distinctive Victorian terracotta facade and stone cupola, taken from the city's demolished 4th White Cloth Hall. The new design respects this original Victorian architecture, reinterpreting it through a contemporary lens.

Sustainability is also central to the redesign, with furnishings sourced from local manufacturers and a strong emphasis on recycled and natural materials throughout.

The Met Hotel sits in a key part of Leeds city centre with easy access to Leeds train station and in close vicinity to the hustle and bustle of Leeds nightlife and shopping with Park Square, Greek Street, the Trinity Centre and Victoria Gate just a stone's throw away. Perfect for domestic and international tourists alike as well as those looking for a city centre luxury staycation - The Met Hotel is Leeds' freshest hot spot and a must visit once it reopens its doors later this year.
