Falkensteiner expands in Sardinia with management of island’s largest park resort

Arbatax will be the group’s second property in Sardinia, strengthening its presence on the island alongside Falkensteiner Hotel Capo Boi 5* located on the island’s south-eastern tip.

A unique resort in a protected natural setting

Arbatax Park Resort is the largest resort complex in Sardinia, set in 60 hectares on the island’s east coast, within a protected natural park. Located in the Ogliastra region, one of five Blue Zones around the world noted for longevity, the resort offering carefully combines tourism with the preservation of local flora and fauna.

Awarded World’s Best Eco Resort in 2025, the international project was orignally developed by Giorgio and Angela Mazzella. FMTG will continue to build on owner Giorgio Mazzella’s expertise in sustainable hospitality models and integrate it into the resort’s ongoing development.

Future plans

FMTG is firmly focused on long-term development and has already scoped out a number of projects across the resort in the coming years representing investment in the region of €30 million.

  • Gradual modernisation and quality repositioning across all 900 rooms in line with Falkensteiner standards of service and quality, while preserving the cultural identity and ecological sensitivity of the location. Over 500 rooms have already been renovated ahead of reopening in May 2026

  • From 2027, four existing hotels – Ville del Parco, Telis, Cottage and Dune – to be integrated into one single structure of 620 rooms and suites, and rebranded as Club Funimation by Falkensteiner, for families and active guests

  • Restyling of Borgo Cala Moresca in line with the premium Falkensteiner hotel concept of around 250 rooms within an authentic Sardinian village including squares, winding streets and traditional stone houses by 2028

  • Addition of 17-suite boutique hotel Monte Turri for adults only

Otmar Michaeler, CEO of FMTG says “With this second property in Sardinia, we are significantly reinforcing our market presence and further developing our expertise in the family and club segment”.
