The Falkensteiner Michaeler Tourism Group (FMTG) – Austria’s best-known hospitality brand which operates 30 hotels and two campsites across seven European countries – has presented latest figures and outlined key areas for growth – including increased activity in the UK.

At a press conference in Milan last week, FMTG announced 2024 turnover of 264 million euros, up 11.1% on 2023, and recorded more than two million overnight stays (+7.8%).
The group’s investment pipeline stands at €400 million over the next five years in four countries, half of which has already been specifically earmarked for projects in Brit favourites Italy and Croatia.
Otmar Michaeler, CEO of FMTG, adds: ‘We are keen to build awareness of the Falkensteiner brand in the UK market, while continuing to invest in our core markets across the DACH and CEE zones, and Italy. That's where our guests already know us, that's where we are strong - that's where we invest.’
FMTG appointed UK trade sales rep Nunzio Giannone of Luxury Boutique Collections in 2024 and has also invested in PR activity in the UK market. Through regular press trips, fam trips, attendance at industry staples including WTM, international conferences and media events in the UK, Falkensteiner aims to raise its profile among British travellers who value the brand’s core principles of “effortless, feel-good luxury.”
From its origins with a single small guesthouse in South Tyrol, in 1957, the group was formally established in 1995. The company combines hotel management (Falkensteiner Hotels & Residences), project development (FMTG Development), strategic tourism consulting (Michaeler & Partner) and digital investment solutions (FMTG Invest) under a single roof. This autumn sees the launch of a new camping brand together with a strategic investor.
