Angsana Velavaru General Manager Ahmed Zahir Honoured as South Asia’s Best General Manager at the South Asian Travel Awards

Angsana Velavaru proudly announced that its General Manager, Ahmed Zahir, has been named South Asia’s Best General Manager at the prestigious South Asian Travel Awards (SATA). This accolade is a reflection of Zahir’s extraordinary leadership, vision,  and decade of dedication to the hospitality industry.

With over 30 years of service within the Banyan Group, Zahir holds the distinction of being the first Maldivian appointed as General Manager in the company’s Maldives portfolio. His tenure at Angsana Velavaru has been marked by transformative growth, record-breaking performance, and an unwavering focus on excellence. Under his stewardship, the resort has achieved its highest revenue and Gross Operation Profit, while also ensuring his team secured maximum incentives – an achievement that speaks to his strategic foresight and inclusive leadership style.

Angsana Velavaru has been celebrated with titles including Best Water Villa at Travel Trade Maldives Awards and World Travel Awards, as well as securing a place in the Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific 2025 for #8 Best Resort Pool and #3 Best General Manager.
